Final Conference of Aljmaški Rit and Drávakeresztúri
27 November 2014

The final conference that marked the end of implementation of one of the biggest environmental projects in the Programme, the Aljmaški Rit and Drávakeresztúri project  was held in Osijek, Croatia on 27 November 2014.

The project that will reach its end by the end of this month included the revitalization of two river branches in the cross-border area, with the removal of mud and other material to enable the free flow of water into the areas once famous for attracting anglers and fishermen from the region and beyond.

The cleared channels will feed the water into the dead branches and renew the natural habitat of many diferent species of fish, while at the same time provide a better and more environmentaly friendly flood-protection system.

A small marina was also renovated as part of the project, providing a mooring place for the local fishermen and visitors attracted by the rehabilitated area's renewed fishing potential.

The final conference included a site visit and a presentation of the short film about the works completed within the project.
