Third Call Plus

Although the Third Call has long been closed, thanks to the Reserve List and the new allocations coming to the Programme, as many as 23 extra projects have been contracted and started with implementation within the last year.

The original 39 projects selected for funding under the Third Call have been joined by the additional 23 projects from the Reserve List following two additional decisions by the Joint Monitoring Committee. These have been awarded funding according to their scores achieved during the Quality Assessment phase and their placement on the Reserve List, accordingly.

By the end of June 2014 as many as  18 of the projects  have been successfully closed, with the longer-running or later-starting ones being foreseen to be closing all through 2015, which means that the Programme will be well active in the next year as well.

The focus of the Third Call was on the tourism themed projects, with the largest part of the projects belonging to the 1.2 Area of Intervention “Sustainable Tourism in the Mura-Drava-Danube River Area”, however, other Actions have also been covered, with projects including co-operation in RD&I, joint strategies, as well as those focusing on joint cross-border education and bilingualism activities.

With many of the longer-running projects that also include infrastructure development, such as ViNaK, Drava&Danube ecotourism growth, Two rivers and one hill or BicOa entering their final implementation phase, we are excited to soon be able to witness the visible impact of the Programme all over the Programme area.

With the closure of projects such as Drava4EnjoyCross-border Bike Project, Bicycle Route along the Drava or Cycling across Cultures,  the impact of the Programme on the development of cyclotourism potential of the area will become even more apparent and hopefully serve as the foundation for further similar efforts in the future.
