The Countdown Continues

Dear Readers,

Newsletter 12 marks a major milestone in the implementation of the Hungary-Croatia Cross-border Co-operation Programme 2007-2013, as with its publication the last communication indicator still to be fulfilled before the closing of the Programme is now also met.

At the beginning of the programming period the programmers, as well as the programme implementing bodies, have set a number of optimistic and challenging goals to be the guiding lights during the Programme’s life cycle. Now, as we are approaching the end of this road, these goals, in the form of Indicators, can tell us exactly how successful our Programme has been.

Not to be blowing our own horn, we have had external experts working on the on-going evaluation of the Programme, both as a corrective force during the implementation of the Programme and as a good analysis and basis for the elaboration of future generations of co-operation programmes between Croatia and Hungary. The final report is now available on our website, complete with the main findings and recommendations of the experts.

While we can now almost see the end of this Programme, there are still a number of projects being implemented in the final 18 months, and even several new ones contracted as we speak. All the projects, of course, as well as the Programme, have to close by the end of 2016, so the latest projects are jumping on the last train of implementation.

The already many times mentioned New Programme, now with a new official name “Interreg V-A Hungary-Croatia Co-operation Programme 2014-2020”,  has been revised according to the comments received from the European Commission and then recently  resubmitted for the following steps in the approval procedure. To help speed up the process, we are asking for your help in determining the missing baseline value of a Result Indicator by filling out an online survey.

Confident that the final approval of the Commission would be arriving in the following months, with the recent launch of the new website, the new programme is gradually entering the implementation phase.

The beginning of implementation of Interreg V-A Hungary-Croatia Co-operation Programme 2014-2020 as well as a final look at the results and accomplishments of Hungary-Croatia Cross-border Co-operation Programme 2007-2013 will be the focus of this year’s Programme’s celebration of European Co-operation Day – The Programme Conference in Čakovec, to be held on 10 September, marking also Interrreg’s 25th birthday.

More on this and other exciting news in the Newsletter ahead.

Last Batch of Reserve List Projects Approved

With more unused funding coming back from the finished projects, further new projects have been approved funding to be implemented within the final 18 months of Programme implementation. This means a swift contracting period and smooth implementation is crucial at this point.

Programme Shortlisted for Interreg Project Slam

We are very proud to announce that the Programme’s ‘Cross-border Wine Routes’  Third Call project has been preselected as a contender for Europe’s best Co-operation project. The project will be presented at the central celebration of Interrreg’s 25th birthday  organised under the auspices of Luxembourg Presidency in Luxembourg in September 2015 as one of the candidates for the title.

3 in 1 Conference in Čakovec

This year’s European Co-operation Day in the Hungary-Croatia cross-border area will be celebrated in style: we are bringing together all the people taking part in the Hungary-Croatia CBC Programme 2007-2013 to share their experiences and discover the new opportunities that the Interreg V-A Hungary-Croatia Co-operation Programme 2014-2020 offers, at the annual Programme Conference in Čakovec, Croatia.

Approval of New Programme under Way

After receiving comments from the European Commission on the Co-operation Programme submitted in March, and following a round of formal and informal negotiations with the Commission, the amended document was resubmitted for approval in on 30 June.

New Programme, New Web

Easing into the implementation phase of the Interreg V-A Hungary-Croatia Co-operation Programme has been marked by the recent launch of the Programme’s Website. As with the current Programme, the website will serve as the main communication tool, growing with the Programme and being tailored to its needs.
