Newsletter - European Co-operation Day 2015

A Full Circle

Dear Readers,

every September since 2012 cross-border co-operation programmes all over Europe dedicate a week to the celebration of European Cooperation Day, promoting the results and opportunities that the programmes of the European Territorial Cooperation bring to the local communities. This year is no different, and our Programme was happy to have joined the campaign for the fourth time.

And what better way to celebrate the ECDay than with a big Programme Event. After six and a half years the Programme went back to Čakovec, where it all had started with the Programme Kick-off Conference  on 1 April 2009. This September we held the Programme Closing Conference at the same place, taking the opportunity to show all the difference the Programme made in the programme area in its seven-year cycle. The Conference included the presentations of best practice projects and an exhibition dedicated to all of 169 projects implemented  within the Programme.

The event was a double feature, as it also was the Opening Conference  of the new INTERREG V-A Hungary-Croatia Co-operation Programme 2014-2020,  kicking off the new Programme only three days after it had been adopted by the European Commission. Another reason for celebration!

With interesting presentations  from the representatives of the EC and the two Member States focusing on the future of co-operation between the two countries, the Conference was also a great place for first contacts between potential project partners for the projects in the new programme period.

And the celebrations do not stop there! This year marks the 25th birthday of INTERREG  and our Programme was present at the central celebration under the auspices of Luxembourg Presidency, where one of the Programme’s projects, the Cross-border Wine Routes, was selected to participate in the Project Slam part of the event, as one of five most representative projects from all over Europe.

Meanwhile, in the background, the Programme bodies are still quite active, supporting the implementation and working on the finalisation of the several still running projects, while at the same time providing support to the setting up of and the seamless transition into the new Programme.

More on all this in Newsletter 13!

ECDay 2015

Celebrated on 21 September and the surrounding days and weeks, the European Co-operation Day has been an opportunity to show the results and share the experiences of the successful co-operation realised with the support of the European Union and to spread the spirit of collaboration and support within the local communities.

New Programme Adopted!

Keeping in line with the celebratory atmosphere, we are happy to announce the official adoption of the Interreg V-A Hungary-Croatia Co-operation Programme 2014-2020 by the European Commission on 7 September 2015.
