Newsletter - 9 May 2011

Happy Europe Day!

Welcome to the Europe Day edition of the Hungary-Croatia IPA CBC Programme Newsletter. Fitting to the festive occasion it is commemorating this Newsletter is filled with an abundance of good news coming from the Programme. Implementation of the First Call projects, closing the Second Call with the selection of 59 new projects, working on building up the human and technical resources for the smooth implementation of the Programme that has entered into the fourth year of existence are just some of the issues that have been keeping us busy during the past months. Now, we would like to share with you some of the successfully completed activities and take a look at what is next on the agenda of the Programme cycle.

Second Call Projects Approved!

Latest information announced on the Programme website only several days ago is the news many have been eagerly waiting for. On Friday, 29 April the decision of the Joint Monitoring Committee (JMC) on the funding awarded within the Second Call for Proposals of Hungary-Croatia IPA Cross-border Co-operation Programme has been made public.

Three Years of Programme!

As of 13 March 2011, our Programme is a healthy, happy three-year-old.  A lot has happened in this relatively short life-time, and the moment when the Programming document was approved by the European Commission in 2008 seems like a long time ago. Since then, the Programme had not only crawled, but is standing firmly on its two feet and is looking enthusiastically into its bright future.

20 Projects Finalised

Half way there! As of 1 May 2011, as many as twenty projects funded within the First Call for Proposals have been successfully finalised.  With their final reports being submitted, and another 22 projects still under implementation, a lot of work is still ahead.

Lead Beneficiary Workshops

The second half of 2010 saw most of the projects from the First Call for Proposals come into full implementation. To provide support to the project partners and the Lead Beneficiaries and to ensure a smooth transition to the next stage of the project cycle – reporting via IMIS, the Joint Technical Secretariat organised several workshops.

Project Database and Project Events on the Programme Web

In line with the Programme Communication Plan, the Programme Web site is being continuously developed to meet the visibility requirements and contribute to the transparency of information. Two new features of the Web site are the Project Database and the Project Events modules, developed to serve as promotion tools of all the projects funded under the Programme. Additionally a new image photo was created in year 2010, reflecting the slogan and the overall idea of joint Programme implementation.

Media Coverage of Programme and Projects

Close co-operation with the media, on both programme and project level, ensures the visibility of the Programme and brings the Programme closer to the public, and ultimately to the all the people affected by it.  This is why ever since the launching event of the Programme, the Kick-off Conference in Čakovec, in 2009 the Programme has tried to maintain a constant appearance in the media, local, regional and national.

Regional Tourism Product Plan Closing Conference in Nagykanizsa

The results of the year-long work on the project and the development of a regional tourism development strategy for the cross-border region were presented at the Closing conference in Nagykanizsa, Hungary on 8 March 2011.

Third Call for Proposals…

Keeping with the tradition of one Year=one Call, the Third Call for Proposals is expected to be launched before the end of this year.  Given the recent finalisation of the Regional Tourism Product Plan, the next Call is foreseen to contain the so-far closed, tourism related Actions.
