PRESS RELEASE- Budapest, 6 May 2010, Ceremonial Signature of Subsidy Contracts

Subsidy contracts for projects selected within the First Call for Proposals of the Hungary- Croatia Cross-border Co-operation Programme were signed at the Conference Hall of the hotel Batthyány Kastélyszálló in Zalacsány, in Hungary.

The Hungarian National Development Agency and the Croatian Ministry of Regional Development, Forestry and Water Management launched the first Call for Proposals of the Hungary-Croatia IPA Cross-border Co-operation Programme in March 2009. Within the three-month period of the Call 67 project proposals were received, among which the Joint Monitoring Committee selected 42. The amount of Community funding to be awarded totals at over 12,3 million euro. Non-profit organizations based in counties from both sides of the Hungarian-Croatian border were eligible for funding. On the Hungarian side the counties Zala, Somogy and Baranya were eligible, and on the Croatian side the following counties were included: Međimurska, Koprivničko križevačka, Virovitičko podravska, Osječko-baranjska, Varaždinska, Bjelovarsko-bilogorska, Požeško-slavonska and Vukovarsko-srijemska; with the last four representing the so-called adjacent regions, whose participation in the Programme cannot exceed 20%.

In order to ensure a true cross-border character of each project, Croatian and Hungarian partners are expected to implement the projects with participation of partners from both sides with their close co-operation and balanced financing.

Subsidy contracts for projects selected within the First Call for Proposals of the Hungary- Croatia Cross-border Co-operation Programme were signed earlier today at the Conference Hall of the hotel Batthyány Kastélyszálló in Zalacsány, in Hungary. Subsidy contracts were signed for the following projects: Mura WWTP, DRAVIS 2 and In the Wake of Zrínyi. Additionally two more projects were presented: RTPP HU-HR (Regional tourism product plan) and Expert Academy, for which the contracts had been signed earlier.

During the Subsidy contracts signature ceremony the speeches were held by Ms. Brigitta Zicherman – Mikulás, Head of the Managing Authority of the Hungary-Croatia IPA
Cross-border Co-operation Programme, Ms. Silvija Malnar, First secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in the Republic of Hungary, Mr. Péter Závoczky, Economic Councillor in the Embassy of the Republic of Hungary in the Republic of Croatia and Ms. Ljiljana Pancirov, Consul General, Consulate General of the Republic of Croatia in the Republic of Hungary, Pécs. In the cultural part of the ceremony group “VIZIN” from Pécs was showing its repertoire, mainly performing Croatian traditional folk music they preserved in Hungary.
